Crusoé Kayak does more than put a boat on the water. The experience combines independence, a briefing, navigation waypoints, practical equipment, discreet support and photographic memories.

60 seconds beneath the canopy

The route from behind the scenes

Kayakers pass beneath Saint-Paul, disappear behind the leaves and reappear at a photo point. This short video shows the activity’s true rhythm: room to enjoy yourselves, with someone watching from the bank.

Tip: on the water, keep your phone switched on in the waterproof waist pouch. You can use it to reach Florian, and it remains accessible without rummaging through the bag.

Everything that prevents minor mishaps

On the water

Intex Explorer K2 two-person kayak, two double-bladed paddles and suitable life jackets.

Keeping things dry

A waterproof waist pouch for your phone and a 30-litre dry bag.

Calling for help

A paracord bracelet with a compass and whistle, worn on the wrist.

Finding your way

A double-sided map, nine numbered bridges and two colours for the outward and return legs.

For assistance

A pump, repair equipment and first-aid kit remain available on the riverbank.

To take home

Photographs and videos captured at the spots where the group does not always think to look.

Why you do not always see Florian

The river sits low between its banks, and vegetation hides the path. The guide moves parallel to the group, anticipates the bridges and uses gaps in the foliage to observe or take photographs.

This distance preserves your sense of independence without breaking the connection: a phone call or whistle immediately attracts his attention.

The briefing that puts your mind at ease

Before setting off, you practise paddling, turning, reading the off-limits crosses, turning around and using the emergency signal. Once the six key habits are clear, the paper map and the guide’s “on-the-water” mode are all you need as reminders.

Life jacket fastened · no swimming · phone switched on · whistle on your wrist · closed-toe shoes · respect the wildlife.

Disembark without turning the kayak into a seesaw

  1. Position the kayak parallel to the bank and slow down before making contact.
  2. Keep the paddle perpendicular to the kayak and use it as stable support.
  3. Place one leg on the bank while keeping your other point of support inside the kayak.
  4. Transfer your weight gradually; keep your hips mobile and never lunge suddenly.
  5. Once ashore, steady the kayak for the second person and follow the guide’s instructions for the drain valve.

The stop is not an equipped picnic area

It is an earthen bank surrounded by trees, at 48.589281, 7.759572. Use it to catch your breath, have a picnic or drain water from the kayak. Everything you bring in leaves with you.

If something goes wrong

Stop paddling, steady yourself in calm water and use your phone or whistle. Give the number or name of the nearest bridge: it is the quickest way to pinpoint your location.

More content is on the way

The guide will soon gain more short demonstrations: embarking and disembarking, reading the current, passing beneath the nine bridges, species photographed on site and architectural stories told in front of the structures themselves. Media will be filmed in both landscape and portrait formats so that it remains easy to view on the website and social media.

The goal: for every group to leave with a story to tell, not merely a kayak to return.
